Kolhapur is one of the busiest foundry and auto-component clusters in Maharashtra. Shiroli, Gokul Shirgaon and the Kagal 5-star MIDC supply castings, machined parts and assemblies to tractor, auto, pump and engineering companies across India. These units run on metal, but they constantly need plastic: patterns, core boxes, fixtures, covers, caps, and the odd part that nobody in town makes.
AURO3D’s factory is in Savali, Sangli, about 50 km from Kolhapur. We 3D print casting patterns and prototype parts on 12 FDM and 2 resin printers, and mould production parts on our own 250-tonne Haitian press. For a Kolhapur buyer that means one supplier, about an hour away, for the pattern, the prototype and the production run.

Foundries in particular use printed patterns for jobs where a wooden pattern would take too long or the shape is too complex to carve: impellers, manifolds, housings with internal passages, and short-run castings where a full metal pattern is not justified. From Shiroli to Kagal: getting parts to you
The MIDCs sit along the Pune–Bengaluru highway on either side of Kolhapur city: Shiroli to the north, Gokul Shirgaon to the south, and Kagal further south towards the Karnataka border. From Sangli, the usual route is through Jaysingpur and Hatkanangale, joining the highway near Shiroli.
You can collect parts from our factory at no charge, which is convenient when an engineer is travelling to Sangli anyway. We can also arrange courier or transport to your unit. We confirm transit time and any delivery charge with your quote.
Moulding for auto-component suppliers
Many Kolhapur suppliers buy small plastic parts (caps, protective covers, clips, spacers, wire guides) from vendors in Pune or further away, because that is where moulders traditionally were. If you buy such a part every month, it is worth asking whether a mould at a nearby factory makes sense.
We run PP, HDPE and ABS on a 250-tonne Haitian MA 2500. Before quoting a mould, we check the design for moulding, print a sample so you can try it on the assembly, and work out the quantity at which the mould pays back against 3D printing. We quote each mould individually for your part. If printing is cheaper for your quantity, we will say so.
Prototypes for new Kolhapur products
Kolhapur also has engineering firms developing their own products: agri equipment, pumps, sugar-plant machinery and electrical panels. Fixtures and spares for machine shops
Behind every Kolhapur foundry is a machine shop: CNC turning and machining centres finishing castings for tractor, pump and valve customers. These shops need small plastic items all the time, and rarely want to machine them in-house:
- soft jaws and protective nests that hold a finished casting without marking it
- go/no-go aids and checking fixtures for a high-volume component
- chip guards, coolant deflectors and sensor covers on machines
- caps and plugs that protect machined bores and threads during transport
We print these in PETG, ABS or Nylon from your CAD or a sample. If a protective cap or plug is used on every part you ship, it is often a good candidate for moulding later. See automation and SPM parts.
Visiting from Kolhapur
An hour’s drive is short enough for a working visit. Bring the casting drawing, a sample part or the assembly it fits into. You can see the printers and the press, discuss allowances and finish with the person who will make the part, and approve a sample on the spot.
